MISSING YOU...

My family lost someone dear to us yesterday, my grandaunt (my grandma's younger sis). She'd been fighting breast cancer for nearly 2 yrs, gone thru the necessary operation but Allah is Almighty. Cancer took over, but to me she didn't lose the battle at all.

Life goes on for her despite her condition. She smiled and laughed often, hiding the bitter truth rather well...despite knowing her days were numbered. Today, would be her 63rd birthday. Knowing her time was ending soon, she told her eldest daughter to gather all her children.

I remembered that recently Hafiz told me that pemergian seseorang in our lives is a "wake-up call" to us. To remind us, that we won't live forever. And whenever God wills for us to return to Him, we will definitely return to Him, not a second earlier, not a second delayed. Ajal tidak pandang kepada usia.

It was raining when we made our way to my aunt's place in Choa Chu Kang. Hujan rahmat my mum said...Insya'Allah.

Things that went thru my mind when I saw my late grandaunt: her cute laughter, her willingness to always help especially at weddings, insisting to give me $ during this year's Eid but I gave her instead (Alhamdulillah). Her husband passed away more than 2 yrs ago on a Sat morning too.

One by one her children kissed her on the forehead to say goodbye. And then her own siblings...2 granduncles,1 grandaunt, and my dearest 73-yr old Nenek. I've never seen my Nenek shed tears before, cos she's known for her strength. Yesterday, was my first time seeing her cry. And yesterday, I "mengepit" my Nenek and mum more than usual...talk to my grandaunt and aunts (mum's siblings) more than other times too. Cos I know I will miss them lots when I lose them one day. The time will definitely come...cant run away.

My Ustaz used to tell me if you have a wedding and a funeral to attend to, choose to go to the funeral. And I do understand why.

People still continue streaming in, even though the arwah telah dikebumikan. One of my relatives was generous enough to prepare food at home, and deliver it to my late grandaunt's place. Met relatives whom I've not seen for months, and even met my poly mate, whose parents are close to our family.

I remembered seeing my mum cried last week. When I asked why, she said "orang yang jarang sakit, slalu kuat...dah sakit." She was referring to my grandma who was down with fever last week, my grandaunt who has difficulty in walking due to diabetes, and my late grandaunt. Allah always gives us reminders to us...some rather subtle reminders, others are immediate wake-up calls.

I met this wise 62-yr old taxi driver last week, he said "kalau putus cinta, boleh cari lelaki lain. tapi mak bapak tak boleh ganti. Jgn lupa jenguk Nenek slalu." This was a reminder for me.

Appreciate your friends and loved ones around you...God doesn't make you meet them for no reasons.
Moga Allah mencucuri rahmat ke atas arwahnya.
