Walked on a familiar path today
Thousand memories unfold
Hear laughters...only I, could hear
See smiles...only I, could see
Listen to conversations...only I could listen
Moments of joy, moments of tears
Only I could vividly playback
Just memories.

::Those Were The Days::

Especially for those born 1974- 1980s...brings fond memories back

1. You grew up watching He-Man, MASK, Transformers, Silverhawks and Visionaries. Not forgetting, Ninja Turtles, My Little Pony and Smurfs too.

2. You grew up brushing your teeth with a mug in Primary school during recess time. You will squat by a drain with all your classmates beside you, and brush your teeth with a coloured mug. The teachers said you must brush each side 10 times too.

3. You know what SBC stands for.

4. You pay 40 cents for Chocolate or Strawberry MILK every week in class.

5. You watch a popular Malay dubbed Japanese drama on RTM1 about schoolgirls who possess powerful skills in volleyball called MeoroAttack, bola berpusing! and another one called Oshin or those 3pm chinese drama serials on Channel 8 with Aileen tan, Zoe Tay & Cherie Lim.

6. You find your friends with pagers and handphone cool in secondary school.

7. SBS buses used to be non-airconditioned. The bus seats are made of wood and the cushion is red. The big red bell gives a loud BEEEP! when pressed. There are colourful tickets for TIBS buses. The conductor will check for tickets by using a machine which punches a hole in the ticket.

8. Envelopes given to us to donate to Sharity Elephant every Children's Day

9. You've probably read Young Generation magazine(you know who's Vinny the little vampire and Acai the constable) or those lame bookworm gang books.

10. You were there when they first introduced MRT here. You went for the first ride with your parents and you would kneel on the seat to see the scenery.

11. Movie tickets used to cost a mere $3.50

12. Gals are fascinated by Strawberry Short Cake and Barbie Dolls.

13. Missing Sesame Street or The Electric Company was a mortal sin.

14. You longed to buy tibits called Kaka, Tora and Ding Dang, that had a toy in it and it changes every week not forgetting the 15 cents animal crackers and the ring pop, where the lollipop is the diamond on the ring. And chewing gum was not banned !

15. You watched TV2 (also known as Channel 10) cartoons because Channel 5 never had enough cartoons for you.

16. Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, The Three Investigators, Famous Five and Secret Seven are probably the thickest story books you ever thought you have read.Even Sweet Valley High and Malory Towers.

17. KFC used to be a high class restaurant that serve food in plates and let you use metal forks and knives and you get a free pirate plastic hat everytime you ate at Long John Silver.

18. The most vulgar thing you said was idiot or stupid and THE MOST EXTREME WAS 'super white' you just couldn't bring yourself to say the hokkien relative.

19. Playing catching was the IN thing and twist as the magic word.

20. Your English workbooks was made of some damn poor quality paper that was smooth and yellow.

21. CDIS were your bestfriend.

22. The only computer lessons in school involved funny pixellised characters in 16 colours walking about trying to teach you maths.

23. Waterbottles were slinged around your neck and a must everywhere you go.

24. Boys loved to play soccer with coulourful small plastic balls in the basketball court.

25. Teng-teng, hopscotch, hentam bola, one-leg and zero point were all the rage with the girls and boys too.

26. Science was fun with the balsam and the angsana being the most important plants of our lives, guppies and swordtail being the most important fish.

27. Who can forget Ahmad, Bala, Sumei and John, eternalized in our minds from the textbooks. Even Mr Wally & Mr. Yakki. What abt Miss Lala??? And of course.......Zaki and Tini in Malay Textbooks.....

28. We carry out experiments of our own to get ourself badges for being a Young Zoologist/Botanist etc.

29. Every children's day and national day you either get pins or pens with 'Happy Children's Day 1993' or dumb files with Happy National Day 1994'.

30. In Primary six you had to play buddy for the younger kids like big sister and brother.

31. We wore Panda, BM2000, BATA or Pallas shoes then moved on to Paichi & US Masters in sec school.

32. Your form teacher taught you maths, science, english, social studies & health education.....oh and sometimes PE too.

33. The worksheets were made of brown rough paper of poor quality.

34. You went to school in slippers and a raincoat when it rained, and you find a dry spot in the school to sit down, dry your feet, and wear your dry and warm socks and shoes.

35. School dismissal time was normally around 1 pm.

36. There would be spelling tests and mental sums to do almost everyday.

37. Your friends considered you lucky and rich if your parents gave you$3 or more for pocket money everyday.

38. You see Wee Kim Wee's face in the school hall.

39. You freak out when the teacher tells you to line up according to height and hold hands with the corresponding boy or girl.

40. Boys like to catch fighting spiders & play goli (no kissing, no sound - no count).

41. Collecting and battling erasers was a pastime for boys.

42. Autograph books were loaded with "Best wishes", "Forget Me Not", and small poems like "Bird fly high, hard to catch. Friend like you, hard to forget".

43. Class monitors and prefects loved to say "You talk somemore, I write your name ah!"

44. There were at least 40 people in one class.

45. Large, colourful schoolbags were carried. And remember those Bodypac& High Sierra bags.....yeah...

50. You brought every single book to school, even though there was one thing called the timetable.

Remember?!!! Heehee...

I'm back! Though I wish I could have stayed longer in KL. Too bad..back to the real world of slogging and slacking (at times).

25th Sept (Sat)

12.20am - Depart from Golden Mile Complex
It was a good ride to KL, despite our rocking chairs cos Wenda and I sat right at the back, next to the unused toilet. Thank God there wasn't any pungent smell. I was famished cos I didn't eat my dinner that night. Thankfully, Lena brought ample supply of junk food to keep me alive.

5.20am - Arrived in Pudu
3 young girls strolling to The Royale (formerly known as Novotel Century). Wenda and I threw ourselves to the comfortable leather sofas and continued our beauty sleep, while Lena went to the counter to check for available rooms. There was none yet, so we rested at the lobby. Did my Subuh at the Musolla in the hotel (that's the convenient thing abt KL).

8.00am - Makan Time
We checked in our bags at 8am, then it was time for us to hunt for breakfast. We felt like eating Roti Canai and Maggi Goreng. Went back to the same place where we had breakfast together 2 yrs back. A sip of the teh tarik was enough to wake me up! Shiok...

11.00am - Checked in
They were kind enough to let us checked in early. The hotel staff were so hospitable. We took our own sweet time to enjoy the refreshing shower and the king-size bed.

1.20pm - start of the day
Left after Zohor. Realising it was raining heavily, the hotel staff gave us his umbrella. We were looking for a salon for Wenda to do her rebonding. Managed to screen down to a few for her to choose from. Took a cab to Masjid India, exceptionally longer ride than usual cos of the rain and the traffic congestion.

2.30pm - Masjid India
I already knew where I wanted to go - Mydin. Managed to find my way there. Realised that they had arranged the stuff in a diff manner. I had my left hand full with tudung. Wenda and Lena seem to be more excited than I was, with their constant "OMG,this is so nice!", "hey, get this!", "this is so cheap..get this!". I didnt really do much thinking. I just need to extend my left arm to hold all the stuff they threw. They make good assistants! Lena even got a nice, comfy brown shawl from Mydin.

At the cashier, I got constant glances from people in front of me, behind me, beside me..cos I had 10 scarves in my hand. I wanted to already end my shopping spree there. Until I walked further in front, and saw nicer and cheaper scarves. Lena & Wenda were worse than the sales person. They were the ones who took each scarf, one by one, and showed me. I would either shake my head, indicating disagreement or nod my head, when they would automatically put it in my hands. After that 2nd stop, I said "Ok gals, that's enuff..I'm tired." Lena commented "where's your shopping spirit?!"

And well...it didnt die off. First it was 10, then 2, then 4, then 2, then 2 - enough! I looked at them and they gave me an evil, satisfied smile. Had to go back to the hotel. While waiting for me to do my prayers, they counted the no. of scarves I bought -- 20!

4.30pm - Bukit Bintang
They wanted to go Vincci. So we did, and of course, they bought 2 pairs. I didnt cos I thought I had enough! Wenda had to go to the salon at 6.00pm in Sungei Wang. We sent her and then, Lena & I continued our shopping.

7.45pm - Bistro
We retired at the Bistro, and had a coconut drinks. So refreshing! I was not hungry yet cos I bought protuguese egg tarts (yummy...6 of that) and famous amos cookies.

The guy at the cafe asked why I wasnt watching Anugerah Era. He tot I was KL resident, until I mentioned that I came to KL to shop. Lena was definitely eyeing on me. When I got back to my seat, Lena went "Hey...that was a cute Malay guy!" Haha! That coming from Lena..hmm..

We had a very meaningful chat on life, r/ships, work, aspirations.

8.30pm - Reunited
2hrs and Wenda's hair was finally done! She commented it wasnt really a good job done. But at least it wasnt as messy.

3 of us were still not hungry so we just ended up walking and walking until we saw a Ramly Burger stall. Sedap! Wenda and I ate it in a mess. Who cares?!!!

10.45pm - Hotel
Took out all the scarves. The gals were dying to try out the scarves, which they did. Got a few shots of my Chinese galfrens in tudung. Haha!! They looked cute. Received an sms from Lisa - Amir's no. I sms to Amir and waited and waited for a reply, but none. Thought I had sent to the wrong number. (sorry bro! was too "pai seh" to call) So, we dozed off while watching Jerry Maguire.

26th Sept (Sun)

After Subuh, I slept again. Bad move! We woke up at 10.30am. Running out of time! There goes my roller coaster ride.

At 11.15am, my boss called me! Goodness...gimme a break on a Sunday! Realising I was not in SG, he msg me for me to call him when I'm back. (well, i did..this morning!) Lena had to go to Starhill to collect a ring for her office and at the same time to send a box to their boutique in KL. Her KL colleague served us cappucino with pretzels. Felt like a "tai-tai" for a while. Took the opportunity to take a few shots in Audemars Piguet boutique. We didnt dare to wear the $28k watches!

Had to rush to Pudu cos our bus was leaving at 3.30pm.

Bid goodbye to the hotel staff, walked to Pudu and off we go. Back to Singapore! This stay was definitely not enough.

Next time, I must go to KLCC, Mid Valley - for food and Berjaya Times Sq - for roller coaster ride!

(The photos are not uploaded yet.)

Just not my day today! My favourite skirt was stained with grease from the escalator @ Singapore Post (Paya Lebar). It was a huge patch of grease. No way, was I going to my meeting in that state! So, went to This Fashion, where they have cheap and nice skirts. Grabbed one, went to the Ladies and changed into it immediately.

During the meeting, one of my colleagues certainly pissed me off, by raking up a month-old matter which has already been settled and decided by me. I think my other colleagues were so quiet cos they realised that I was really pissed off. And after much argument, she still don't see my point. WHATEVER!

When my manager came, the rest wanted to take a 5-min break, which gave me an opportunity to talk to my manager. I told him about the debate I had with that female colleague of mine. My manager reminded that the final decision is in my hands not her, cos I am in-charge of marketing, not her. Told me not to give in so easily and be more firm. Well...lesson learnt. Glad (and surprised)that my manager was listening to me and giving me sound advice. Hmm...

Made my way home after the meeting. With the heavy downpour, there would definitely be slow traffic. Patience...patience...

I alighted at Bt Panjang Plaza. And true enough, the laundry lady told me that she cant remove the stain. Sigh...

So, went to NTUC - not a good choice when I feel down cos I tend to spend on lots of stuff. I bought epok-epok instant for mummy dearest, peppermint ice cream (i still have ripple ice cream at home), ice cream cones, Tang Yuan (Glutinous Rice Balls),2 packets of Mushroom & Chicken Soup (1 for Lisa, who's been asking me how I made the soup), 3 huge cream puffs from Polar Puffs. Probably, I shall have Tang Yuan for breakfast.

Had Lisa come over to my place again to eat dinner. As usual!

Today was a Me, Myself & I day. Initial plan was to have a movie marathon - 13 Going 30 (which is ending real soon) and Man on Fire. But decide to just make do with Man On Fire.

Usual hang out to watch movie alone, is Lot 1. The lady at the counter repeated if I wanted only one ticket. The old Malay man, who took my ticket stub, asked "Sorang aje?" Ish...until I realise what he meant was I'm gonna be all alone in the cinema. Cool! But not for long, about 5 mins into the show, a Chinese man came in..so 2 of us with the whole cinema to ourselves.

Here's a synopsis on Man On Fire:
John Creasy (Denzel Washington) is a lost soul. A former government operative, he has become an alcoholic nomad, searching for inspiration and redemption.

An old friend (Christopher Walken) who lives in Mexico gets Creasy a job as a bodyguard for nine-year-old Lupita "Pita" Ramos (Dakota Fanning), the daughter of Mexican Samuel (Marc Anthony) and his American wife Lisa (Radha Mitchell).

Creasy's primary job is to protect Pita from the kidnapping attempts that are an increasing menace to the children of Mexico City's wealthy. A man of few words and many secrets, Creasy initially balks at Pita's attempts to befriend him, but soon a bond grows between the precocious child and this lonely man who is tormented by his past.

When Pita is kidnapped despite Creasy's valiant attempts to save her, he will do anything to bring all of those involved to justice. His fury unravels a net of almost unimaginable corruption and greed in the process.

Reason why I wanted to watch the show:
1. Denzel Washington
2. Dakota Fanning (she is so adorable! 10yrs old?)
3. It's a 146-min show (worth the $$$)
4. It's abt the corruption in Latin America

The way they portrayed the development of r/ship between Pita (Dakota) and Creasy (Denzel) was certainly heartwarming. Simple thing, like learning how to smile just because of this young girl.

And this is the second show with Dakota Fanning that made me cry. Yes...tears welled up in my eyes. Goodness...I totally didnt expect that to happen! It was supposed to be an full of action and violence. Sure hope the guy behind me didnt see me in the dark, wiping my tears away. But I think, me blowing my nose gave it away. Great show!

The first show that made me cry was "I am Sam" with wonderful cast as well: Michelle Pfeiffer (did i spell it rite?), Sean Penn and Dakota Fanning. That was a great one too.

You Don't Know by Westlife

Nobody knows me
Yet everyone knows my name
Some people judge me
Not knowing that I am the same

Thanks for the offer
But I keep my old friends, always
And then I get lonely
Counting the endless days

Are you here for me at all?
Do you care for me at all?
Well this time now I know
I aint standing alone no more

Cos all I want is love
Someone who can share the pain I feel
And the eyes that stare
Wont stare at me no more
Cos all I need is time
Time for me to open up and show
The person I am
The person you think you know
You dont know
You dont know

Some heart felt emotion
Creeping from deep inside
Cos being this person
Is all I have got left to hide

Are you here for me at all?
Did you care for me at all?
Last time I was told
I aint standing alone no more

All I need is love
Someone who can share the pain I feel
And the eyes that stare
Wont stare at me no more
And all I need is time
Time for me to open up and show
The person I am
The person you dont know
You dont know
You dont know

Though it was tiring, I was glad I didn't turn down Lisa's offer to go out on Friday. If I had not done so, I would be stuck at home for the whole weekend and work, of course.

Got what I wanted on that day. The beige embroidered skirt, strawberry cheesecake from Polar Puffs and just relaxing at One Fullerton.

We had dinner at Cavana, cos the foodcourt was closed for renovation. No regrets though! The tofu with teriyaki sauce was delicious! I even made Lisa eat it (she don't eat Tofu).

Hmm..where's our next makan place?

It's Friday and I'm feeling so tired! Effect from constant late nights. I gotta work the whole week this week...yes, including Sunday.

Last night, I made Lisa come over to my place cos (1) I was bored (2) need her help to find out what's wrong with my Internet connection (3) too pass her the Main Hoon Na VCD (4) did I mention bored?

We concluded after figuring out all the wires running all over behind the computer desk, and she running to and fro the living room and bedroom (talking to the technical officer but my cordless phone is spoilt), that it might be the phone connection. I just have to bear being Internet-less for one night cos tomorrow we are going to install another Internet connection with another ISP.

Thanks gal for helping me out! Sorry though about the flood in my kitchen!

Last night was our company's dinner, initially meant to celebrate our teaching staff dedication. But what the heck..we decided to hold it for all staff.

I started getting busy, loading and unloading stuff, running here and there from 3pm. At 4.30pm, my manager and I made our way to The Legends (Fort Canning Park). His car has never been that full with stuff - lucky draw prizes, door gifts, etc. He, as usual, was very concern about his Nissan car.

At 7pm, we are all set for the event, praying hard that everything will go smoothly as planned. The staff was more sporting that we had expected. The teachers, especially wore Arabian costumes (the theme for the event). They had veils on, with beaded strings around their heads (whatever you call them), flair shimmery skirts, black jubah, ala Cleopatra, and many more. The guys in our company - one of them ended up looking up like Ali Baba and another like an Afghan man (but with "capal"). They look good though!

They enjoyed the games - scavenger hunt, let's go nuts (where you have to clip your body with peanut shells), limbo rock. And of course, what's a dinner without a Lucky Draw. The lucky draw got more attractive when The Legends gave us four 2 days 1 night package at The Legengs, Johore and $50 voucher for The Legends, Fort Canning. Too bad..I didn't win any. But!!!! My GM decided to give me and another colleague, a 2 days 1 night stay package at The Legends, Johor. Woohoo!!!

We ended later than expected, at about 11pm. The organising committee had to pack our stuff to load into the car. Took less than an hour to do that. Was seriously tired, but after much persuasion from my colleagues, I joined them for a "lepak" session at Mr Bean's. It was a weekday night, but the place was so packed! We had one round of smoothies, few rounds of stupid jokes, riddles and games (which I still cant get!).

My mobile rang amidst the laughters. Oopppss...it's 1am! That's a cue for me to leave. Received an sms straight after the phone call...my boss? who was sitting right in front of me? He told me I could come into the office later. Which I did this morning..1 1/ hrs later than usual. Best nya!

Took a cab home again. That's the last time..no more cabs for the next 2 weeks. (I hope!)
