FIESTA'S OVER!

Image hosted by TinyPic.com
Months of planning, preparation, sweating...the fiesta finally happened last Saturday, 4th June @ Bishan Park. It's a family sports day that my company organised for its customers.

The organising team's challenge was to prove some of our colleagues (and customers) wrong, that this time the family day wont be cancelled. The last time another team planned it in December, everything just went wrong. We did not even had enough customers to start the event, and so, it had to be cancelled.

This time, after posters were put up, the team nervously waited for the no. of participants. The first few weeks was disheartening. Only about 50 odd people registered for the event. The team's target? 300 participants! I was dead worried that we wont meet the target, and that all our hardwork will be wasted.

Then, we started sending out letters to the customers. We were so thankful when a celebrity agreed to be our emcee for the day. (Thanks to one of our team members) Slowly, the numbers kept increasing. And woohoo!!! On the closing date of registration, we had 488 registrations. My GM was glad that we met and exceeded his target :)

Last week, the team started packing all the 500+ goodie bags, wrapping all prizes and finalising details with all vendors and sponsors. On Friday, we stayed late @ Bishan Park to finish up the decor. At night, I prayed that everything will be as smooth as we planned.

The big day: Woke up late at 5.30am, feeling sleepy (slept for 2hrs only) took a cab down to Bishan Park with Hafiz. He was snapping photos at the event...really appreciate his help cos he ended work at 3am (Sat morning) and had only one hr of sleep.

The weather looks good, bright and sunny. The park looks packed at 8.30am. They were very sporting cos they dressed up according to the colour dress codes assigned to them. Lots of them participated in the telematches lined up for them. Soccer for dads, captain's ball for mothers, soccer clinic for the kids....they were more enthusiastic than I expected. Everything was going smoothly...everyone agreed that it was a great family day.

At 12.30 in the afternoon, the customers were all ready to go home. Alhamdulillah, my prayers were answered. It started drizzling for a while only after the end of all the outdoor games and all the customers were under the tentage...Syukur Alhamdulillah.

I guess so far, this is the first time my company had an event organised on its own (without the parent company), with such a terrific turnout. Woohoo!!!
