SAY Y.E.S!
Over the weekend, I attended an outdoor training programme organised by my company. It was an experiential customer service training. Being first timers, I must say the organising team (my own colleagues) did quite a good job in planning the training.
The programme could be improved, of course. Cos there was some point of time where I really got restless. The waiting time to start another activity was too long. And I think they should move away from the normal activities...something more innovative. Although, the activities done still managed to achieve the training's objective.
Before the end of the training, we had a superb dinner, that was catered from The Makan House. The training ended at 10.30pm on Saturday, after announcements from our GM. The rest of the staff went home, while I had to stay overnight (B-O-R-I-N-G).
There was no rest for the supervisors. Our mini Amazing Race started immediately at 11.30pm, in Pasir Ris. Walking in the middle of the night, with no money and water, it was indeed a test of endurance. I was surprised to still see families with young children spending time at the playground. We ended the race by 2am.
We had 2 hours of sleep, cos we had to wake up at 5.30am for Sunday's activities. After subuh, we had a warm-up session and some simple games, related to supervisory and leadership. Breakfast was just 2 slices of bread with Nutella spread and a cup of Teh-O.
Activities encompassed the elements of Earth, Fire, Air and Water. Earth - was to find some clues in a maze, Air - was to test our creativity in doing up a kite and flying it, Fire - was to start a fire and burn the cloth hung on a string, and Water - to grab a few cubes in the pool and get the right combination of colours per side. And the last activity we had, Rescue Mission, where we had to build a stretcher using 2 poles and rope, and to ferry the "casualty" from one point to another.
My day ended at 3+. No rest, until last night, when I really had a good night's sleep.
And I got to get back to work later....YAWN...
