BITS AND PIECES Thanks to Pojan I have to make some time to reflect on my life :)20 Years Ago, 1985Having fun with my 1yr old brother and 3yr old sister. Learning how to sing Mandarin songs at
sekolah makan (PAP Kindergarten). Never missed my
gula-gula cincin. Remembered the
nyonya at the Kindergarten who served us Milo and biscuits during break time. One fine day, she forgot to put milk in the Milo. Since that day, I didn't drink Milo, until I was in secondary school I think. That explains my indulgence in coffee over Milo :p
My mum had a stall near our place in Taman Jurong. Played with some friends at the grass patch at night and stepped onto a broken beer bottle. Ouch! Had the scar on the bottom of my foot until I was in Secondary 1. Ran to my mum limping. Did not even cry (mum cried first) until I saw blood dripping!
Loved cycling in the park at Chinese Garden across our flat.
10 Years Ago, 1995I was in Secondary 3, actively involved in my ECA...National Police Cadet Corps.
Semangat! Chosen to represent the unit to a nationwide inter-unit trip to Lake Toba. First time taking the aeroplane and away from my family. Before I left for the trip, decided to
chop off my long hair.
Break record cos I would usually just trim my hair!
The long plaited hair which was better well known as
toilet flush. Yes, I have
fans who pulled my plaited hair and said "toilet flush!"
Takde keje lain!Realised that I can't make much sense out of Physics! No matter how much I tried to study. Never passed in Physics but was chosen to be the mentor for Physics group. Faith those teachers have in me...sheesh! Ended up taking answers from other groups who have qualified tutors. How I got a B for my Physics in O level? By memorising the ten-year series of past year papers!
Time when my weight goes rocket high! And my fitness level went way down.
The best times of my life cos I had more friends than when I was 13-14yrs old. Made a few good friends like Braba, who never failed to wish me Happy Birthday every single yr; Yongqiang who used to call me when he was studying in Canada; and Hafiz who never fails to be there for me and many many more.
Hang out a lot at McDonald's.
5 Years Ago, 2000Decided to be a Hijab girl, after 3 years of thorough thought process and encouragement from friends. Lots of life tests...difficulty in finding jobs, lots of decision making. The starting point of an adult life!
Couldn't gain weight at all. Wished I could then (now I wish I couldn't!)
Most of my hang-out friends were from secondary school. Still hang out with Wenda, especially after our Japanese class on Sunday. Oh, and that was the year I took my International Japanese Literacy Proficiency Test (JLPT4). And I did pretty well...80%!
Realised that I would prefer to be a housewife than to be in the employment market. Hated working in the bank. So monotonous!
3 Years Ago, 2002Another year of tests!
Loved my new job which I found after 9 mths of unemployment!
Trying to adapt to a new working environment, juggling work and night classes at the same time, adapting to singlehood. But with great frens like Wenda, Lena, Shsuya and Lisa, it made things easier.
Most nights spent hanging out at coffee joints to destress! So when I reach home, I will be too tired to think of anything. Yes, coffee doesn't have that "wake-up!" effect on me.
Last Year, 2004One of the best times I had in terms of career cos I got selected to be the company's Marcom Exec after months of waiting. And better pay..Alhamdullillah. So, my hardwork in getting a degree finally paid off.
Continued to blog..thanks to Lisa and Shsuya :)
Rebuild some lost friendships...which I still strong now.
Started my Cert in Islamic Studies, a 5-yr course.
Went to Perth...first time
pergi negeri mat salleh for us. Sponsored what I could afford for my mum and my youngest brother's air tickets.
Had to learn Dreamweaver, Flash and Photoshop on my own, to update the company's website.
This Year, 2005Still loving my job, good pay, more responsibilities but more independent.
Company did better this year with the new management team.
Shop till drop at Bangkok with my best fren Lena.
A time when I have proved myself that I've really understood the lessons I've learnt 3 years before. A more patient, independent, less of a cry baby. Insya'Allah.
My skills in Photoshop has improved.
Took up Pilates to feel healthier and cos my company subsidised half of it. Woo hoo!!!
The year my beloved 89-yr old grandmother passed away. Al-Fatihah.
