BLUE BIRD, SILVER BIRD & BIG BIRDThese are the taxi companies in Jakarta which are safer choices for a tourist cos they go by the meter. (Big Bird is a mini bus, by the way)
Ritz Carlton had impressed me much even when I'm not there yet. I was waiting for their confirmation for the transfer via email, but no news till Thursday morning. I received an sms from them informing me it was confirmed. Impressive!
Day 1Intended to take other flights, but they were full. So, took Valuair to Jakarta, which was better than I expected. I didn't know they actually serve meals on board! Nasi lemak and a cup of jelly, that's good enough!
I got worried when I see no one with the Ritz Carlton sign for about 15 minutes. He was apparently at the other end of the arrival hall. The taxi ride was a sleepy 1 1/2hrs ride to the hotel. Cos of the heavy traffic and demonstrations due to the oil prices escalating.
It was a totally a different Jakarta, when we were nearing Ritz Carlton. You can see embassies, posh houses, and JW Marriot across the Ritz Carlton. Tight security at Ritz upon arrival. Lena welcomed me and rushed me to go up to the room.
Wow!!! Now I know why Lena was so excited.
2 king-size beds, a walk-in wardrobe, plasma TV, a tray of chocolate masterpiece, 2 Lindts chocs on each bed, ironing board (important!), the toilet - 2 sinks, a bathtub overlooking the view outside (the "view" is still in midst of developing), a separate shower, a cubicle with automatic spray (for istinjak), and all the toiletries you need.
1st day was just lazing around, jumping on my king size bed and taking a super-long shower! Only went out for dinner with Lena and her colleague at the nearest shopping mall.
Shall continue my story tomorrow nite!
