JAMAICA CAFE...HOT BREW INDEED!Thought I'm talking about some new fancy coffee joint? Nay! That's the name of an Indonesia's top acappella group, which has been around for more than a decade but has only recently released an album MUSIK MULUT.Thanks to Hafiz who told me to get their CD when I was in Jakarta. It was one tough buy! I searched so many CD stores for their CD but all were sold out, except for one (that was the last piece! ) "they must be damn good!" So I listened to their CD...but I wasn't convinced that they didn't use any musical instruments. Seriously I thought it was humanly impossible! The music was too rich, too complex, too detailed with so many levels of pitching. And I got an email from Esplanade that they are coming down (their 2nd time by the way), without hesitation I bought the tix.Last night at their performance, they certainly proved me wrong! Hafiz was smiling ear to ear beside me..with his "told-ya-they-are-damn-good" look. Each of them can really sing beautifully. They sang from traditional Cindai, to rock (Amy Search and Ella's), to Coolio's Gangsta Paradise, to Rhoma Irama's dangdut Tera Jaana! Every performance was marvellous! And the better thing, they are excellent entertainers. Joke and fooling around...you will never be bored! (by the way, one of them is handicapped, with only one leg and arm)
Too bad we didnt bring the CD along for their autograph (can only be found in Jakarta.Hafiz u must thank me!Muahaha)I managed to convince Ayie to listen to their music this morning! Dont believe me? Hear a sample of their music here!
