LOOK HERE! NO SMOKING!Last night, I was so drowsy (clever me, drank the cough syrup, forgetting it would cause prolonged drowsiness!) and felt so tired. My condition caused me to be like a ferocious lioness waiting to pounce on her prey.
Hafiz and I had dinner @ this Indian stall opposite Bugis Junction. Never went there so decided to try their Mee Kuah. I waited so long for my Mee Kuah! Guess my impatience showed on my face that the guy had to tell me "Sorry eh Kak. On the way..."
Beside us, there was a Malay couple in their early 40s who were smoking away. Then, I noticed a white poster with the text "LOOK HERE". I suddenly remembered that with effect from 1st October 2005, smoking is prohibited in public places like bus interchange, coffeeshops, etc.
So, I asked Hafiz "I tot smoking is not allowed in coffeshops already?" He was trying to shut me up but I couldnt. He replied "Maybe next year..." Evil me, answered back "No...look at that poster." (pointing at the notice). He was giggling, shaking his head in disagreement and disbelief. (Sorry!)
When my Mee Kuah finally came, I asked the Indian guy "Abang, bole tanya sikit tak? Sini boleh isap rokok ke?" His answer "nak isap,isap...kita tak kisah. takpe." So, I suggested to him "Kalau tak kisah, then turunkan poster tu lah!"
By the way, the couple didnt hear me cos the place was too noisy.
Not sure if there's a fine for doing that...should be. But, seriously what's the point of putting up the poster if you dont abide it at all. Maybe the stall owner will be fined for not putting up the poster :p I mean, the guy is lucky to have me asking (I was just in one of those mood). What if he got a customer who really dislikes being a 2nd hand smoker?
