Thankfully for me,YC is a morning person too =) So, right after our 2 1/2hrs long breakfast, we dashed to the beach. Already missing the feeling of dipping our feet in the water.
We saw people donned with flowers tucked behind their ears, women in kebaya and guys in sarong. We thought there was a wedding going on. How ignorant! There were hundreds of people in the congregation for someone's 1yr death anniversary! Apparently, that person was from the highest caste so people from the lower castes joined in the congregation. (the kay-po me asked a Balinese man who is taking part). He mentioned that people from the lower castes won't do such a ceremony cos it involved high costs. Here's a short video we took:
With much enthusiasm, despite the scorching hot sun, we snap as much photos as we could. We were lucky to have been feast with such a symbolic ceremony. But consquences borne..especially YC. She was already sick and standing too long in the sun, of course didn't make it any better :p Poor gal. Badly dehydrated and weary, we cooled ourselves down @ McDonald's.
Look out for our photos we took during the ceremony at my next entry! At 3.30pm, we met our "newly appointed driver" and made our way down to Tanah Lot, a temple facing the sea. I was the one engaging in a conversation with the driver whilst YC slept most of the time. Tip: Don't go to the tour agencies for any tour. They are expensive. we paid our driver Rp300,000 ($60) for 2 people, compared to a USD$25 per pax.
We love the time @ Tanah Lot cos we got to enjoy looking @ the sunset. Dunno how to describe it but keep a lookout for pix, real soon I promise!
