View all my pictures from Day 1 to Day 5 here!SAWADEEKA TO PHUKET: DAY 1 (19th April)Hectic work schedule prior to the trip, drained me out. So, when we landed in Phuket, my first thoughts was to head for the BED! Reaching the hotel at 5+, it was too late to explore anyway. Anyway, at the airport, we were greeeted by our tour guide,
Chalee, who kept saying "Nice to meet you", and "Welcome to Phuket". And asked if Azilah (my colleague) and I are single. Of course, we were honest..but I guess we should have lied!
Thank goodness I thought we are going to see him for only the 1st 2 days, cos ours is a F&E package. On the way to the airport, he told us where he'd be bringing us the next day. I figured he loves petai cos he kept showing us petai trees, and really wants us to go watch the Cabaret. Haha..I'm not gonna spend my $$$ on Cabaret and Tiger shows.
At Patong Lodge, it wasn't a good 1st impression. No welcome drinks and most importantly, no Sawadeeka from the female counter staff. Maybe she was having her PMS. Not even a smile! And they do not have any iron! Lucky thing I brought all my polyester-cotton scarfs which requires not much ironing.
We didnt have a nice swimming pool view from our room, just the huge tree in front of the balcony, which we both gladly decided to draw the curtains :)
1st dinner was Myojo cup noodles and plain water :p
DOWNTOWN PHUKET: DAY 2 (20th April)
After breakfast, we met Chalee to go around Phuket Town. We first tried Elephant Trekking. I am amazed I actually wanna try it cos I am scared of anything that moves and not humans! We had a few funny episodes during that short half an hr ride. Azilah missing her NPCC days, tried shooting.
Then, we had a taste of Phuket's Ice Teh Tarik. The woman selling Ice Coffee, Teh Tarik, etc, rides around on a scooter and sell these drinks in a small bucket for only 10Baht (S$0.40). And the drinks are too sweet for me!! Once you are done, just leave it by the side and she'll pick it up when she rides around again.
We visited a cashew nut factory (now I know that Cashew Nuts are actually attached to a fruit!). And my favourite place, Diamond and Pearl Factory!!! And now I know why my favourite black pearl is the most expensive. I fell in love when I saw a black pearl with diamonds ring. I didnt get it though. :( Last stop was a t-shirt factory and a park (like Mt Faber or Bt Timah Hill)
He did show us the Tsunami-hit places. They cleaned up the place pretty fast, no post-tsunami ruins were seen. That was the last time we saw Chalee and he cautioned us not to walk on the beach at night or hitch a ride from the taxi scooters. He wasn't that bad after all.
After a refreshing cold shower, we walked on the beach nearby our hotel. We initially thought it could be ok to walk down to the main Patong area. But the long and winding road down, with vehicles rapidly passing us, made us decide to take a Tuk Tuk. Had a great dinner @ Dubai restaurant.
