Yesterday, 2 of my colleagues (the young ones!) asked me how do I religiously save my money every month and what's my spending like? Not that I'm the best person to advise them, and not that I have so much money.
I shared that I have this habit...dunno if it's a bad/good thing, I will save that same amt of $$$ every single mth, even if it means I am left with little amount to spend on daily necessities. I cant bear seeing $200 from my previous mth's salary lying in my a/c. I will immediately transfer it to my other savings account.
I will keep track of almost every single cent spent. I am a scrooge when it comes to shopping for my own stuff. fyi...I'm the kind of girl who finds that shoes and pants more than $40 ridiculous and takes a long time considering buying a bag at $50. Like what my partner would say 'nak cantik tapi nak murah!' hehe...it's a challenge but it's not impossible ok?
I can't bear to spend a few hundred dollars on a bag, but I would willingly spend it on a vacation. Definitely eyeing on that nice Gucci bag but it would take me ages to think about it and maybe spend on just one Gucci bag. Vacation is a once in a lifetime experience...eg. Egypt - it was an unforgettable experience, nvm it costs more than the Gucci bag I wanted.
But my one advice I gave to them, start saving now. Not when you are older, not enough $$$ to pamper yourself or your loved ones, to further your studies, to get married, to go for long holidays, etc...I wish I had started saving religiously much much earlier :) Alhamdulillah, better now than never right?
